About Disney's "High School Musical"

High School Musical is an Emmy Award-winning American television film. Upon its release on January 20, 2006, it was the most successful Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOM) ever produced, with a television sequel released on August 17, 2007 and a feature film sequel planned for release in October of 2008. The film's soundtrack was the best-selling album in the United States for 2006. The movie was shot almost entirely in the Wasatch Front in Utah (namely Salt Lake City and Murray).

With a plot described by the author and numerous critics as a modern adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, High School Musical is a story about two high school juniors from rival cliques: Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens), a beautiful and shy transfer student who excels in math and science. Together, they try out for the lead parts in their high school musical, and as a result, divide the school. Despite other students' attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella resist peer pressure and rivalry, inspiring others along the way not to "stick with the status quo."

Example content image - aligned to the right In Urinetown The Musical, Bobby, a young man living in a future world where Earth's natural resources have been outpaced by population growth, tries to change the world.

This irreverent story posits a planet where all water, even urine is a valued commodity that must be regulated. Public toilets run by government contractors insure that no one can "pee for free", lest they risk getting caught by the police and sent to a mysterious place called Urinetown.

Feeling oppressed, Bobby stirs a revolution against the status quo in a comedy full of rousing tunes, sensational parody, exuberant dance and unexpected twists!
