About Disney's "High School Musical"

High School Musical is an Emmy Award-winning American television film. Upon its release on January 20, 2006, it was the most successful Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOM) ever produced, with a television sequel released on August 17, 2007 and a feature film sequel planned for release in October of 2008. The film's soundtrack was the best-selling album in the United States for 2006. The movie was shot almost entirely in the Wasatch Front in Utah (namely Salt Lake City and Murray).

With a plot described by the author and numerous critics as a modern adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, High School Musical is a story about two high school juniors from rival cliques: Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens), a beautiful and shy transfer student who excels in math and science. Together, they try out for the lead parts in their high school musical, and as a result, divide the school. Despite other students' attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella resist peer pressure and rivalry, inspiring others along the way not to "stick with the status quo."

Example content image - aligned to the rightIn Bat Boy The Musical, A boy with fangs and pointy ears is found in a cave. He is taken in, named Edgar, and kept in a cage. As he grows up he is taught to be civilized. Edgar finds conditional acceptance within the small town despite the strange happenings that surround him.

However Bat boy's cravings are not "normal", and ultimately he must define himself: is he beast or man? Should he conform to societal norms, and can he? What is the price to be paid when you repress the beast inside? This dark, offbeat, musical comedy will tug at your heart and make you cheer.

Musical contains some adult situations. Parental discretion is advised.

"Big laughs…It's remarkable what intelligent wit can accomplish-a jaggedly imaginative mix of skewering humor and energetic glee."
